Since I have such an insatiable sweet tooth I usually binge on desserts. Cakes, ice creams, pies, macarons, cheesecakes, candies, you name it! And so, StaySweet is born! I’ll be featuring different desserts in my blog under this title so if you’re looking for the next sweet thing to indulge on, you know where to look for inspiration! This probably won’t be limited to desserts. As long as it satisfies the sweet tooth, I’ll feature it here!

On to the very first dessert to take the StaySweet spotlight!

XieXie Home Café’s Maja Con Hielo.

Served in the usual tall glass used for the traditional halo-halo, Xie Xie’s Maja Con Hielo comes with everything you’d expect to find in this perfect fusion dessert. Coconut milk, sweet corn, corn flakes, maja blanca (of course), and a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped off with grated cheese!

The balance of crunch when you bite into the sweet corn and the smooth creaminess of the maja makes this a very satisfying dessert! And what makes it unique is the harmony of both sweet and salty! “It’s a party in the mouth!”, as Emerald, the owner of the Café, said.

Now, I know corn isn’t a flavour everybody loves, especially in a dessert. But for those of you who do love corn and the traditional maja blanca, then this dessert is as perfect for you as it is for me.
