New food establishments have been popping up all over Davao recently but one has gotten me and a few of my friends excited ever since we heard rumours of their opening.
They serve tasty burgers, fries, and shakes to satisfy hunger and provide a selection of tabletop games that satisfy boredom and stress.
People who know me should know that I have been collecting and playing tabletop games recently, and I’ve been tagged quite a few of times on facebook with regards to the opening of this establishment. I got to visit the place with a couple of friends over the weekend to try out what they serve from their grill and check out their collection of games.
Let’s talk about the food first. The burgers are quite tasty. We all had the Boggle Bacon Burger which contained, well, bacon strips. The patty is juicy and has that nice, chewy texture, and it’s complete with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and soft buns. Pretty basic, nothing unique or crazy like what other burger joints market, but they do not disappoint.
You can get a burger for as low as P120 (the Jenga Burger). Their big baddie would be the Stack Burger, which is P310. You can also order fries, onion rings, hotdogs, and hot wings. They also serve coffee, milkshakes, beer, and desserts: everything you need for hours of tabletop fun.
At the back of the room is a black shelf chock full of tabletop games that every customer can bust out and play with. They have household titles like Monopoly, The Game of Life, Scrabble, Risk, and Jenga, but they also have some uncommon games like 7 Wonders, Exploding Kittens and Splendor, which was a real treat to know! And what boardgame store wouldn’t be without a deck of Cards Against Humanity, right?
During our visit, we played Politricks and Splendor.
It was a bit tricky eating the burgers while playing a game because the grease gets on your hands and, as a game collector, I had a hard time trying not to get the grease and oil on the game’s parts.
Overall, it’s a great place to chill. I’ve always found playing tabletop games with friends a great stress reliever, and I’m glad Burgers and Boardgames has finally opened! Davao has been given the gift of tabletop games! (And delicious burgers, as well, of course!)
If you have your own games, you are allowed to bring them and play them inside the store as long as they don’t have their own copy of said games. This is to avoid having their games’ parts mix with yours.
Visit them at Damosa Business Center, Unit 5, Damosa Complex, Davao City. Like their facebook page, Burgers & Boardgames, for more information and future updates! See you guys there!
