Joining Top 5 Wednesdays for the first time, and the first topic I’m writing about is my Top 5 books that’s on my current To-Be-Read (TBR) pile! Ever since I started bookstagram, my TBR pile has grown to a size like never before! When you ask bookworms about their TBR, they sometimes refer to them as mountains whose summits they cannot see anymore. I am starting to understand what they mean. Out of the 20+ unread books in my shelf, here are the Top 5 Books that I want to start reading as soon as possible!

The Summit of Mt. TBR

Vengeful by VE Schwab

VE Schwab is one of my literary queens and the first book I ever read of hers was Vicious. It was a very unique, dark book with an equally unique concept, and it was written flawlessly. She won my heart over with that book and I have been drinking the rest of her books ever since.

Now that Vengeful is released, I can’t wait to find out more about the Vicious family and dive back into Schwab’s very cinematic way of writing.

Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd

I have been waiting so long to get my hands on a copy of Grim Lovelies, and I finally got my copy via Mermaid Crate‘s October 2018 Box! The story intrigued me, the book cover makes me swoon, and the concept piqued my interest!

Definitely very excited to try out Megan Shepherd‘s book. We’ll see if I’ll get a new favourite author!

Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson

There’s a horde of Brandon Sanderson fans online that swear by his books. One of them is my friend Raf of @theroyalpolarbearreads on IG. This is a set that’s difficult to buy where I live but thankfully I found a set for sale online at a really affordable price, so I grabbed it and now the books are on my shelf… staring… waiting… I’m very intrigued by the books and by Sanderson himself. What does his writing do to people? I’ll find out this year!

The Name of the Wind by Pat Rothfuss

I heard about The Name of the Wind last year, from numerous friends and bookstagrammers, and I have heard nothing but amazing things about this titan of a book. It’s both very exciting and very scary. High fantasy books have always intimidated me, and I find the very slow pace and the overly descriptive way of writing to be off-putting. But this year, I am setting “Read a High Fantasy Book” as a goal. Hopefully I can fulfil it and join the legion of Pat Rothfuss fans once I am done with this THICC book.

The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty

One of the 19 books I got during National Bookstore’s Book Binge Bazaar. This book has a beautiful cover and, apparently, an equally beautiful story. It’s so good that my friend actually sat down and started reading the book before we even got to pay for our haul! A few days later, he announced he’d finished it already. Now my curiosity is piqued and I can’t wait to enter The City of Brass as well! Plus, the second book is coming out! The Kingdom of Copper (which also has a stunning cover)!

If you’re interested in joining Top 5 Wednesday, head on over to the GoodReads group for the rules and topics list!

  1. Welcome to T5W! I finished about half of City of Brass and then stopped because I had issues with one of the characters, but apparently the ending is amazing and the second book irons out the problems that Book 1 had. So I’m going to try to fit it into my schedule!

“What does his writing do to people?” Haha nothing but good things, I promise! 😀

    1. Thank you, Kathy! 😀 That’s good information to know about City of Brass! 😀 Hope we both get to finish reading it early this year! 😀

Sanderson fan, I see. Hopefully I become part of your legion this year! 😀
